A YouTube embedded video page has been made, every YouTube link that used to exist in the videos section has been converted to use it, every YouTube link in a stat comment has been converted into a video entry (about 200 total), and every future YouTube link in a stat comment is presently automatically converted into a video upon submission.

The mechanism for obsoleting will probably need to be revisited as a consequence - there's currently 9 SADX Casinopolis Sonic videos. And perhaps not all videos ought to be converted. Thoughts on those subjects are welcomed.

Could it be possible to have actual links on a record's page where there is a link? Then all extra YouTube videos will still have a link to their video, but there won't be a dozen videos of the same level on the videos page.

I am not pro total inclusion of YouTube videos. Videos should be the cream of the crop, so to speak. I am rather more pro submission of videos, even from YouTube, being a separate deal, even though they are inevitably linked to the stats.

Also, does the current system bypass user validation?

Here's something, would it also be possible to download these?  I'm asking as someone who spends half a year with DSL and half a year with ancient dial-up, I'd rather get the videos now so I can watch them later.

Could I suggest that the Videos section only links the top video in any given division, with the option of "view all videos" somewhere?

I'd rather generalize it so that any video for a particular record would be linked from one record, but yeah, that's worth considering.

It now has two layers of validation, stat conversion and general submissions. Both can be turned on or off.

To the best of my knowledge, no. I much prefer ordinary videos for that reason and also nonsucky quality; this development is a recognition of reality, not an endorsement of YouTube.

This was one of the options I was considering, the others being separating the records or top videos into a table above the rest.
